The Maullin river is located a few minutes from Puerto Varas and is Lake Llanquihue's natural outflow.
The main stretch of the river has some of the most astonishing scenery in the Lakes District. It has a unique ecosystem and really calm water for fly fishing.
This river is not very wide and you can fish easily from both banks, taking advantage of the natural hiding places formed by the thick vegetation.
Here you can find big Brown trout, up to three or four kilograms. Plentiful also are Rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon, the latter being prodigious fighters. In areas where the water is not very deep, it is possible to watch shoals of trout waiting in mild currents on their journey upstream. It makes for some great dry fly fishing at the end the afternoon.

Season Open: Second Friday of November
