The famous Petrohue River is located 55 kilometers from Puerto Varas. It carries the outflow from Lake Todos los Santos, runs through a glacier valley and flows into Reloncavi Sound.
In the highest part of the river you can find many rapids that gradually decrease to form deep pools and very smooth areas, ideal for fishing.
Because of their diversity, the 50 kms of the Petrohue River offer almost every condition for fishing, currents, deep pools, streams, and areas for dry flies. Certainly, one day is not enough to experience the river and all it has to offer. That is why we organize and plan your trip according to the amount of time you have.
Our program includes 10 hours fishing aboard a drift boat and a guide for two people.
The fishing season for the Petrohue River starts the second Friday of November and ends the first Sunday of May
Like most rivers close to the Andes, from about the 15th of December to the 25th of January is the season of "Tabanos", which are a rather annoying horsefly. To combat these, we recommend a good repellent and the use of light colored clothing.
