Posada Puelo
This lodge is located an hour and a half from Pueto Varas and two hours from the 'El Tepual' airport of Puerto Montt.
It sits right in among the Andes and the only way to reach this exclusive lodge
is a boat ride of about fifteen minutes up the Grand Puelo River. It sits just 15 meters from the rivers edge. It is completely constructed of wood and consists of five fully equipped cabins. All of the cabins have a private bath with shower, hot water, central heating and 220 volt electricity.
The capacity of the lodge is up to 17 people but to assure a high level of attention only ten guests are permitted at any one time.
In the main cabin is the kitchen and dining room, and "The Salon of Lies" where every afternoon we get together to enjoy a cocktail and tell the stories of our day of fishing.
The main cabin has satellite television, internet, games, books, DVDs etc.
The Accommodations
Cabins for two to three persons, fully equipped and including :
- One guide for two people maximum
- Breakfast: coffee, milk, tea or hot chocolate, fresh bread, toast, butter , marmalades, honey, yogurt, fruits and eggs if the guest requests them.
- Lunch and Dinner: Includes appetizers, meat, fish, pasta, side dishes, dessert, and coffee.
- Wine, beer, and soft drinks
- A small cocktail upon returning from fishing each day, along with local delicacies.
The Fleet
- 5 Boats with 60 hp Yamaha four stroke motors.
- 2 Catarafts by Tributary, for two people.
The Guídes
- Guides with extensive experience on the Puelo River and more than ten years in the area.
- Bilingual.
The Fish
Mostly fishing the Puelo River , in an area from Lake Tagua-Tagua to the Reloncavi estuary, fishing the smaller marshes and pools etc. In this area, it is possible to catch Rainbow and Brown trout between 2 to 5 kilos or 5-11 pounds. The season for Chinook salmon is from February to the end of April, and they average about 13 kilos or 28 lbs. Also there are Coho and Atlantic salmon but in fewer numbers.
