Rahue River

Rahue River

The Rahue river is distinguished by its meandering course with long runs of mid-depth waters, most of the time clear almost cristal, being mixed with riffles and some not big rapids, all this going through the canyon formed by the river in thousands or millions years, some times this passes are depth and some not so much, but always the river is surrounded by native primary forest of Chilean oaks, Coigues (another kind of native oak), Ulmos among others. The river has some areas of rainbow trout in which it's not rare to see them feeding on the surface of many different of emerging insects, in these spots is possible to watch them crossing and eat quietly, It is in this moment when we can make a good presentation of our best fly pattern to catch one of these nice trout. In some of the areas river is cut banks where big browns are waiting for some chance of taking some good food, most of the time some small fish or Pancora at times is not rare to see them on the surface trying to catch a good terristrial or some big insect, or even in a ants hatch. The river splits in two or three different sections, each one with some of the features described above. Fishing is mostly using wet flies, most of the time streamers, but as explained above there is also chance of doing dry fly fishing, it could be from the boat or from the banks doing wading fishing, we float the river with the choice of fishing from the boat or having stops to practice wading fishing, whatever our customers prefer.
